Global Warming Essay Tips and Ideas Global warming is an urgent topic nowadays, especially given President Trump’s views on it and the number of people who don’t believe in melting ice caps. That’s why it is often given as a writing assignment to students. Chances are, you will work on a global warming essay several times during your educational career, each time going deeper and doing more extensive research. Here, we’d like to give general recommendations and ideas on how this assignment could be approached. Ideas for a global warming essay There are several positions you could take in approaching the very topic, and the simplest is for or against. However, it will be too broad for an essay, so you should narrow down your thesis statement to something that can be researched sufficiently within the set timeframe and word count. We recommend being creative and researching global warming from different sides. For example: The peculiarity of people that don’t believe in global climate change. Can such views be attributed to a lower intelligence level? Or maybe some psychological peculiarities? What makes a climate change non-believer? What are the circumstances of opposing views on climate change? How does it influence global policy of different countries? Views on global warming as leverage in elections. Educational campaigns and how they can be more effective. The level of information on global warming in different countries and where the educational campaigns should focus. What are the prospects related to different courses of action in the global warming area? In choosing the angle for your essay, take the following into account: It should be narrow enough to enable extensive research. Overview papers are hardly ever taken seriously â€" it’s the narrowing down that works. In going narrow, make sure there is still information to base your research on. Otherwise, you won’t be able to support your thesis statement with enough evidence. Make sure your thesis statement is debatable. Otherwise, it’s no use writing the paper at all. Stages of writing an essay on global warming As is the case with any other paper, your climate change essay will require a well-defined structure and planning of time spent writing. It is recommended to use the regular 3-part structure for this paper, which includes: An introduction with an attention hook to interest your readers and a thesis statement somewhere in the first paragraph. A main part with as many paragraphs as you have arguments. Every paragraph should describe a separate argument and be built as an article of its own, with an introduction, a main part, and a summary. A conclusion where you summarize what has already been said. In working on your essay, make sure to go through the following stages: Brainstorming the angle If you haven’t been assigned a question to answer in your paper, then you should come up with an angle yourself. Allocate at least a few days for it. Go online and see what has already been written. What do papers write about global warming? What are the most urgent sub-problems related to it? Write down everything the comes to your mind â€" you will be able to choose later. Background research will help you to understand which direction should be chosen. Formulating a thesis statement All the thesis statement best practices should apply here. It should be succinct to fit in a sentence, debatable, narrow, and urgent. If your thesis statement can’t be used in a friendly argument, then it is not good enough â€" keep working. Doing the extensive research While doing the research for your paper, make sure to use only up-to-date sources and take notes as you go. Taking notes will help you with citations when you are done writing. Try diversifying your sources to include various opinions on the subject. Outlining Outline the paper following best practices in this field. Make the outline as detailed as possible to better guide your efforts. The above-mentioned 3-part structure is not mandatory but recommended. If you feel like you could improve your paper by following a different structure, be sure to use it. Drafting When writing the first draft, let yourself go. You will do the editing later. In fact, you will do multiple rounds of editing, so there is no need to polish your every sentence or word in the draft. Simply show your logic and check if it’s understandable to your readers. Editing The best approach to editing is described as “kill your darlings”. That is, you should ruthlessly delete everything that doesn’t really fit into the general narration, even if you spent a lot of time and effort writing it. Your goal is to make the final variant of your paper sound flawless, so no matter how good a certain paragraph or chapter is, if it doesn’t help the goal, you should drop it without hesitation. Proofreading It is recommended to put your paper aside for a couple of days before proofreading, because it will help you see mistakes. Also consider using an online proofreading tool â€" there are plenty of them. A few typos will spoil the general impression from your paper, so try to be thorough. Citing Using someone else’s work without giving credit is plagiarism, so make sure all your quotations are properly cited. There are also online tools that can help you in citing of your paper. Using them, you can provide information about the source, choose the right style, and have a citation generated for you â€" much easier than consulting the latest edition of a style guide to see if a comma or a period should be used. Formatting Not allocating enough time to formatting is a mistake that many students make. Don’t be one of them. Setting the right margins, creating a title page, inserting page numbers in the right place and so on â€" all of these take time and attention, so make sure you have plenty of time to do it before submission of your paper.

African American Humanities - Free Essay Example

African American Humanities Introduction American literature drew much of its influence from their culture and history. For instance, the African American literature that is, short stories, poems and novels talk much about the Africans Americans’ culture, social inequality, slavery, racism, their sufferings and frustrations. These themes were incorporated through oral forms like rap, blues, gospel music, spirituals, or sermons. There were efforts by the Western world to rid off African Americans of the brutal sufferings they faced through slavery, racism, and pogroms. The African Americans were subjected to alienation, disesteem, and rejection to ensure that they never reached to the knowledge of their identity. It is through this paradoxical status of the African Americans that the African American writers, for instance James Baldwin, Ralph Ellison, Langston Hughes, Richard Wright, and among others, were in a position to forge their identity based on the travails and the torments they experienced.   W Du Bois once stated that African American literature was part of their campaign for political emancipation (Thornton, 734). Jazz music, for instance, emanated from the tunes composed during this time as they celebrated their hard labor. It was the only time they could celebrate and enjoy since they lived in difficult times of slavery. After the abolition of slavery, jazz music developed from these e arly tunes and constituted the message of difficult times they experienced during slavery. Another problem that dominated the African Americans was the racial prejudice. It is the attempt of advocating for equal rights and abolition of racial discrimination that African-American writers developed their themes around. The African American literary works like the songs and poems have powerful imagery, sublime themes and special vocabulary that is attributed to the significant contribution to the world culture. The double-consciousness of the African Americans prompted the African American writers to discover their true self through various ways. For instance, James Baldwin escaped to Europe just to discover his self that could not be realized in America due to the existing social conditions that subordinated self-determination of the African-Americans. The Negroes encountered difficulties in identifying their ethnicity and cultural orientation because they belong to two races. The rejection of the â€Å"racial uplift† during the Harlem Renaissance by the African American writers like Zora Neale Hurston, Jean Toomer, and Claude McKay led to the celebration of the African Americans’ color and vividness through cultural essays, poetry, and drama in the African-American fiction (Thornton, 736). What are some of the ways that African American historical experience is reflected in the works of poems, short stories, and novels? The historical experience of African-American is reflected in the African American performance in poems, short stories, and novels. The performances helped the African Americans to have a clear understanding of both their past and present through reconstructing and perpetuating their experiences of a mythic past. The performances were carried out in ritualistic and historic continuum. According to Gale (11), rituals, pure celebration, educating the audience on the meaning of the stories formed part of the performance of th e story telling, and creation of the story telling stage. This was represented in the story telling performance as a black church. The juxtaposition of the acts and voices in terms of response and call in the storytelling performance is said to connect with â€Å"a continuum of African to African-American performance† (Gale 11). The African-American literature used the oral traditions, religion, theatre, and folkways to illustrate the transition of the â€Å"African sacred to secular performance† (Gale 12). This was reflected in the storytelling performance through weaving or collage of story in efforts to relay meaning and recognition. The use of specific symbolic patterns of words and actions in the story telling performance exemplifies the recording and telling the history of African Americans, and acknowledging and coping with their present worldview of duality for cultural survival. The African American literature is characterized by creation and sharing of var ious forms of art like the folklore, autobiography, and spirituals and blues. The literature exemplifies the African cultural philosophy that is rich in symbolic acts and texts, as well as its own grammatical, ordinal, and ritual structure. Gale (12) that symbol systems of Africa were evident in black performances during events like Southern burial markers and religion, Pinkster, in carnivals, indicate it in the linguistic dozens, in the religious witness, susus, and secret orders, and jubilees. The symbols in the African-American literature encoded a circular philosophy of life, correlative conception of divinity, and community creativity. The symbols also encoded conception of the empowering and ordering force of rituals. The memories of the old world were brought into the new world through the performance of pan-African poetics. Why were African American poets drawn to musical models such as jazz and blues as a source of inspiration in their writing? The African American po ets collaborated with musicians as well as composers in the creation of choral works, tone poems, opera, jazz, and other forms of songs. Te reasons behind the connection of jazz and poetry can be explained in terms of seeking connection between the values in the jazz lyrics and the definitions in the traditional poetry. A number of people rate songs in terms of its lyrics, that is, poetry. The creation of the song, â€Å"Strange Fruit† by Billy Holiday, was derived from Lewis Allen’s original poetic work. According to Hayden Carruth, who is a poet, indicates that poetry and jazz connection is a twentieth century spontaneous improvisation of personal and conventional determined style. He states that Jazz is a random, open-ended, indeterminate and improvised poem. It is also important to note that the twentieth African American poets collaborated with musical models such as jazz because Jazz is significant in the American culture through its influence in the poetic dictions. Musical models also set the mood for the poetic themes. Poetry is embedded in musical lyrics. This connection of jazz and music originated from the church services that were conducted by plantation blacks. The electric nature of Jazz talk inspired the writing of the African American poets because the jazz was â€Å"highly electric† and combined well with jargons of prostitution, gambling, dance, music, gambling, and larceny. The incorporation of jazz and blues as an inspiration for the writings by African American literary works was because these forms of music reflected the spirit of complicated experience of the Negroes, the African spirit (Benston 339). How did Amiri Baraka and Ralph Ellison use elements from jazz and blues as a base for their literary styles? Amiri Baraka (LeRoi Jones) used elements of jazz music in the recording of a number of his poems. An example of Amiri Baraka’s poetic jazz combination was the infamous â€Å"Black Dada Nihili smus† that was described to be didactic, apocalyptic, and brutal work of the 1965. Amiri Baraka’s literary work was characterized by overwhelming rhythms, strong imagistic sense, and sophisticated hard message. Amiri Baraka indicated that the poetry was a form of music (Wallenstein 613). Ralph Ellison in his literary works incorporated Euro-American structures, the blues, the chanted sermon, the folktale and other vernacular forms. The backbone of the literary works by Ellison and Baraka was the collaboration with black music, especially, the blues to bring about the Afro-American cultural matrix. The African spirit in the blues prompted them to use jazz and blues as a basis for their literary styles (Benston, 339). How were the political changes taking place in the 1960s and 1970s reflected in the poetry of the Black Panther Party? The political changes of the 1960s and 1970s were reflected in the poetry of the Black Panther Party because the literary works were inspired by revolution concept. The poetry was tailored towards the themes of redefinition, war and rage influenced by Malcolm X. The African-American poetry of the 1960s insulted, and sought for compensation of the historical injustices that meted on them by the whites. The poems were constructed in free verse, to create a difference between the Whites and Negros. The Black Panther poetry served as an educational entertainment art in print, on stage, as well as in the community (Jennings 110). An Analysis Of Susan Glaspell s A Heavy Conscience

A Heavy Conscience Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a short play built around the murder of John Wright. One might say that this play is dull and boring. However, that is far from the case. There are numerous entwined themes and ideas throughout the play. With closer examination of Glaspell’s work it is clear that there is a far greater plot in action. Mrs. Minnie Wright has been arrested for the murder of her husband while the investigation is active. Interestingly enough the murder is not the focused of this play. The focus is how two wives Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters identify with the accused. Throughout the play the wives uncover several seemingly insignificant clues which provide insight on the daily life Mrs. Wright before the death of her husband. Although both women ultimately end up identifying themselves with Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Hale appeared to only aid Mrs. Wright due to the overwhelming guilt and shame she feels after learning of the circumstances Mrs. Wright lived in. Mrs. Hale feels guilt and shame for not noticing the confinement and isolation of Mrs. Wright’s life. Mrs. Hale knew Mrs. Wright before she was married back when she was Minnie Foster, so Mrs. Hale feels as though she should have been able to help her. Periodically throughout the play Mrs. Hale reminisces over the former Minnie Foster. She recalls enjoyable and happy memories of Minnie when she was full of life. Cultural Awareness And Delivery Of Appropriate Care

Cultural Heritage As health care providers, it is imperative to acknowledge the relationship between cultural awareness and delivery of appropriate care. The first step in creating cultural awareness may begin by the provider assessing their own cultural heritage, and it’s views on health and wellness. Reflection on one’s cultural heritage requires knowledge and understanding of the concept of cultural heritage itself. When assessing my cultural heritage, I first examined the factors that are identified as contributors to one’s heritage. According the Joint Commission (2010), culture can be defined as â€Å"integrated patterns of human behavior that include the language, thoughts, communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values, and institutions of racial, ethnic, religious, or social groups†. Once reflecting on these patterns, I concluded that my ethnicity and religious upbringing were the two components of my heritage that most greatly affected my beha viors. I belong to the Franco American, English, and Scottish ethnic groups. However, being predominately Franco American and having closer relationships with my family members of this ethnicity as a child, I mainly identify with this group. Competency Goals Statement II Goal: To advance physical and intellectual competence. It is essential to the growth and development of every child to advance their physical and intellectual needs. There are numerous ways to encourage this type of development. We will write a custom essay sample on Competency Goals Statement Ii or any similar topic only for you Order Now I offer a variety of activities that promote the advancement of the physical and intellectual competence of the children in my care. Children are encouraged to participate in daily large motor activities to enhance physical development. I do this by being very enthusiastic and even joining in with the children at play. Outside we play tag, ball, hopscotch, and other made up games. Inside we play parachute, and beanbag toss. I also communicate with the children and their parents about the importance of being physically active. In class we have discussions, and I send newsletters home to parents with ideas for activities. Children in my classroom get plenty of time for large motor activities and know why they are important to their health. I help children develop cognitive skills by encouraging them to try things out. For example, when it snowed this winter the children placed snowballs in the freezer and discovered that they froze into solid ice. They thought that the snow would stay the same rather than freeze, and were surprised that the snow froze. We discussed what happened and why it may have happened. Cognitive skills are used daily in our classroom and the children have fun developing them. Creativity is in the materials and interest areas throughout our classroom. Children have access to art supplies to create their own artwork. Paints, markers, pencils, crayons, and paper are available for children all the time. Many types of music are sung and played during the day. Children can use instruments and scarves to move with the music. Many different kinds of clothing can be found in the dramatic play area. In my classroom I help children learn, understand, and use words to communicate. This is done by encouraging conversations throughout the classroom. I ask children about what they are during all the time. I also reminded them to use their words to express themselves when they are having a hard time communicating. Items are labeled around the room so that they can connect the words with the objects. I have a word wall in the writing center that contains new vocabulary every two weeks so that children are exposed to new words. The children in my classroom always have opportunities to develop their communication skills. In conclusion, it is essential to the growth and development of every child to advance their physical and intellectual needs. I do so many things in my daily schedule that promote Physical, Cognitive, Communication and Creativity. By the time my children in my classroom are ready to move up to the next room I am very confident that they are ready. Word Count: 466 How to cite Competency Goals Statement Ii, Essay examples

Jane Addams free essay sample

She won worldwide recognition as a pioneer social worker in America, as a feminist, and as an internationalist. Jane went to an all- womens institution in Rockford, Illinois where she was one of the first women of that day to attend college. Here at college she began to study medicine but had to abandon her studies due to poor health. She then traveled and studied in Europe for twenty-one months, and then spent almost two years reading and writing books. On her second trip to Europe she visited Toynbee Hall, a pioneering Christian settlement house in London.Toynbee Hall was darted in 1884 by a man named Arnold Toynbee. He like many other social workers dedicated his life to serving the poor. The idea that started the Toynbee Hall was to take the social elite and have them live with the poor. The poor would be educated by these socially elite people therefore bettering their lives and expanding the minds of the affluent. After a long recovery period, she left home for Europe again, but this time, she visited the Toynbee Hall in England. This inspired her to open the Hull House with a friend, Ellen Starr. The Hull House, located in Chicago, outlasted the Depression of the 193(Yes. The Hull House became the prime meeting spot for all sociologists no matter the race or gender, who simply wanted their voice heard. It did not matter what you said or how you felt. All that mattered was those who wanted meeting, were free to say whatever they wished, speaking their minds. These two served many people in need during times of chaos and despair, and knew just how to handle difficult situations. Also, during this time, she was advocating many things, and they were becoming policies under President Franklin Roosevelt reign. Addams had many great accomplishments in the sociological area of her life. She contributed greatly, but she was never considered as much as she should have been because she was a woman. She was looked down upon with her thoughts and ideas, and some began to question whether her intentions were safe or not. In a typical life back in Jane Addams days, women were supposed to deal with the social work, whereas the men were to dominate the sociological portion. She was considered a social worker, but everyone knows that her greatest accomplishments dealt with sociology. Jane far succeeded the necessities of being labeled a sociologist, but she continued to be ignored. She was not the only one to go unrecognized. Even those she worked with or associated with were also paid no attention. Another famous sociologist specifically, W. E. B. Dubious, a black man of that time, was also overlooked. Although many supported of her, she would never let them get to her. She knew what she wanted, and what she had to do to get to that point. Later in life, Jane Addams became a very passionate feminist by philosophy. This was before the time of Womens Suffrage, so women did not really have a say. In order to be able to do this, she felt that going to the legislation would help solve this, meaning women would have the right to vote. She also thought that women should earn the right to produce aspirations in search of further opportunities to be made recognized. Jane Addams was a committed pacifist and early feminist, opposing to war and violence.Addams also participated in the International Congress of Women and established the Womens Peace Party in 191 5, while continuing to maintain her pacifist beliefs even after the United States entered World War I in 1917. She supported campaigns for suffering women, and was an outspoken advocate of internationalism, and was always concerned about the needs of others. Her international efforts were actually noticed in 1931 when she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She became the 1st American woman to receive the prestigious award. It is obvious that Addams was a very prominent figure in developing sociology.Jane was an astonishing woman, and helped us construct society in a way that is still used today. She was still working hard in The Hull House and other organizations all the way up until her death in 1935. Addams went on to die of cancer, after only three days of even knowing of the illness. The funeral was held in the Hull House, bringing together thousands of people showing their appreciation and support. She lived a long successful seventy-five years. To what extent was Arthur Balfour responsible for Conservative decline Essay Example

To what extent was Arthur Balfour responsible for Conservative decline Essay The 1906 election was a major turning point in the political climate of Edwardian Britain. The loss of this election heralded a period of Conservative decline and Liberal ascendancy. Many historians blame Arthur Balfour, nephew to Lord Salisbury, for the landslide loss for the Conservatives in the 1906 general election. Whether it was the policies he implemented, the political machinations of the Liberals and the newly formed Labour Party or simply a demand for a change in political policy, the 1906 election was a crucial point in the political history of Britain. Balfour was the essence of a true Edwardian politician. He was a good administrator and an excellent debater, a skill he used frequently in the House of Commons. Balfour was brought up close to politics and government as a result of his being nephew to Lord Salisbury esteemed conservative party leader; said by Atlee to be the best Prime Minister of his lifetime. This upbringing was to greatly help him in later life. Balfour aimed to maintain Conservative unity at a time when policy choices greatly divided the party. His clear mind and awareness of Britains new diplomatic and political position in the world was to later help him as Prime Minister. This is shown by Blake, Balfour, however had his blind spots, and their effects on the electoral fortunes of the party were considerable. The Taff Vale Case 1901, highlighted to many Balfours aloof and uncaring nature with regard to the lower classes. In the Taff Vale case, Balfours position of leaving it to the courts made him highly unpopular with the lower classes who saw him to be siding with the upper classes. This allowed the Liberals to make use of the resentment against the Conservatives, and gather support for the next election. His non-intervention also alienated him from the trade unions and the lower classes, thus decreasing Conservative support. The Education Act 1902 was one of Balfours major blunders. Although his intentions were good, as he wanted to provide everyone with a better education, he managed to infuriate the Non-conformists and thus increased Liberal support and unity. However although the Act did do this it provided a better more efficient secondary schooling system. In this way, the act was a success. Yet, the success of Balfours education system was shadowed by the infuriated Non-conformists who were outraged at having to pay for Anglican and Catholic schools. This act was a major political turning point for the Tories and should have shown Balfour that he must be more aware of the concerns of the lower classes: after this act, they lost two constituencies in quick succession, whereas previously they won 9 out of 10 by-elections. The Licensing Act 1904 was another act, which offended the Non-Conformists and increased their unity under the Liberals. The ending of the diplomatic isolation of Britain was to be one of Balfours most important legacies, as it enabled Britain to begin to focus on Europe the new diplomatic theatre for power the days of the colonies were over. The alliances with Japan (1902) and France (1904) helped Britain become more prepared for the ravages of World War 1. Balfours reorganisation of both the army and navy also helped to prepare Britain for WWI. However, these achievements would only be fully appreciated after WWI, as the voters were not particularly bothered about military reforms whilst the empire was at peace. These actions did not speed up Conservative Decline, but nor did they reduce it, and so were not greatly advantageous to the Conservatives. Balfours approval of Milners request for Chinese labour in South Africa was a disastrous decision, which cost the Conservatives a large number of votes. There were three main reactions to this approval that cost the Conservatives votes: first were humanitarian concerns. Many members of the public were unhappy about the conditions the Chinese workers were being forced to work and live in. The second reaction was one of discontent at the emigration route to South Africa being closed. This meant that many unemployed workers were now unable to emigrate to South Africa for work because the demand for labour had been filled by Chinese immigrants. The third reaction was from the trade unions. They believed that if the government could import cheap labour in one of its colonies, then they could do it here in Britain. This outraged them and made them firmly oppose the Conservatives, thus increasing support for the Liberals the only real alternative to the Tories. Tariff reform also united the lower classes against the Conservatives as the Liberals raised the old cry of tax on food! this was one of the few things that could make the lower classes staunch opponents of the Conservatives. However, Balfour was opposed to this reform, and made it clear to Joseph Chamberlain that it would be a grave mistake to introduce it. Yet, as party leader, he did nothing by way of overruling him. This was a grave mistake and increased Liberal support. The Lib-Lab Pact 1903 unified the anti-conservative vote and ensured that more constituencies voted into power either Liberal MPs or Labour MPs. This secret pact ensured that less Conservatives were voted into power thus reducing their chances of winning the election of 1906. To conclude, I believe that Arthur Balfour was one of the reasons for Conservative decline and the loss of the 1906 election. However, I do not believe that it was solely his fault, as rebellious members of his cabinet put forward reforms that he disapproved of and thus alienated their party from the mass voters. This will have increased the speed at which the conservatives were falling into decline. Although this is true, I think that the political machinations of the Liberals also played a hand in the downfall of the Conservatives. In addition, I believe that the tides of change were already acting upon the fortunes of the Conservative party, and that it was merely a question of when they would be voted out of power.

Pangrams and Lipograms

Pangrams and Lipograms Pangrams and Lipograms Pangrams and Lipograms By Maeve Maddox Ive long known that the sentence The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog contains every letter of the alphabet. What I didnt know is that such a sentence has a special name. Its a pangram. pangram from the Greek pan every, and gramma letter also called a holoalphabetic sentence; a sentence or (occas.) verse, containing every letter of the alphabet (OED). A perfect pangram would contain each letter only once and wouldnt make much sense. For example: Jink cwm, zag veldt, fob qursh pyx A lipogram is a sentence that is missing one or more letters. lipogram from a Greek word meaning to be lacking (no relation to liposuction in which the lipo is from a word for fat) The OED definition is a composition from which the writer rejects all words that contain a certain letter or letters. One Christmas I received a card from a friend with a droll sense of humor. It took me a while to figure it out. Although it is not a sentence, I think that it can count as a lipogram. Deaf Community Church Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Deaf Community Church - Essay Example What had been learnt in class is only theoretical language that needed to be practiced practically in the real life situation by meeting the deaf and talking to them in order to gauge my knowledge of understanding the language. The purpose of the visit was also to have an understanding of what this community feels like. One can only understand if you have an experience with them to see how they are friendly, how they joke, and how much they enjoy the service? As I was going to this event, I had one question to answer during this course, what exactly make this community bond so strong? It became so had at first to figure out this bond but as I observe them communicating through signs with each other, I realized that these people understood one another because of their common experience that resulted from their state. The fact that they were using the American Sign Language (ASL) was the most important thing that kept them bonded so strongly. Some body watching from far distance would not expect this event to be fan especially a church service that I attended, and as a matter of fact, I belonged to that category. I expected a boring event full of only deaf and feeling nervous without knowing where to start from. An event full of only deaf people came into my mind that it could only be a very quiet place with people only in sign language. Actually after the event, I realized that it was actually not boring or even silent as I had thought. Before that, as I entered the church compound, I thought of finding a place to sit as I meditate. I was feeling nervous. Besides the church under a tree, there was a bench with two ladies sited on it and signing. My challenge was, they just sat with little space left even though the seat looked spacious, so I had to open a conversation to request for a place to sit. Little did I know that it was an opportunity for me to start a conversation that took long to reach its end

Evolution Vs Creationism Debate

Evolution Vs Creationism Debate The question of our origin is probably one of the oldest and most controversial issues in the entire history of science. Is man only a written creation greater than in many religious texts, or is man merely another creature that has developed from nature? One of the main themes for this dilemma is the limitation that exists in our universe to be in a position either to measure one of these theories because of insufficient skills or to validate them. Discussion Scientists have proven in thousands of ways and even convinced the Supreme Court of the United States in 1986 to oppose the teaching of the Bible in the word of science. Not everyone knows that Charles Darwin was meant to be a priest, when he began his studies at Cambridge. The Church of England honored him by burying him near the church of Westminster Abby near Isaac Newton. Many scientists held strong religious beliefs, but they called the Genesis creation story as did Newton in 1681 to Thomas Barnett: As to Moses he described realities in a language artificially adapted to ye sense of ye vulgar. Where natural causes are at hand God uses them as instruments in his works, but I do not think them sufficient for ye creation (Von Sydow, pp. 141-156) Many religions find logic in the premise that science should only explain the limitations of natural laws of creation that God might have to use. Divine intervention cannot be used to explain many scientific theories, including evolution, biology, and physics, although many religions try to use it to justify the inconsistencies between science and religion. Proponents of creationism tend to distort science to make their case, and it is not uncommon to find that they distort even their own beliefs in the process. However, opponents do not all necessarily suggest atheism in evolution either. Many tend to give more flexibility to God in the tools that he used to create as well as the timeline. Scientists have convinced the Supreme Court of the United States in 1986 to oppose the teaching of the Bible as science. In the first trial many religious groups sued the state of Arkansas to ban the theory of scientific creationism because this provision allows the penetration of specific religious doctrines into schools. (Ospovat, pp. 243-6) Judge William Overton wrote in 1982 that this is clearly an effort to introduce the biblical version of creation into the curriculum of the schools. Evidence to establish the definition of scientific creationism is the first 11 chapters of Genesis. The proposed concept is simply acceptance of the fundamentalist version of Genesis. Creationists do not support their beliefs by collecting data, collecting also conflicting scientific data, and ultimately reaching a conclusion. Instead, they take literally what is written in Genesis and try to find a scientific support, whether reasonable to the scientific community or not. The theory of evolution t hrough the cycle of data and theories that were before the scientific community for decades. The arguments presented by creationists are not based on new scientific evidence. (Kent, Carolyn and Daily, pp. 108-12) To best understand the theory of evolution, is is helpful to examine a few examples why the scientific decision making process has led scientists to accept the theory of evolution as opposed to scientific creationism. Scientists are attacking a problem by inventing a number of hypotheses educated guesses. They then test these theories to try to refute their own predictions in several independent observations. After making these observations, the scientists abandon or edit changes in their predictions. Due to the fossils available and science proving their origins and ages, scientists have been able to all but prove their theories regarding evolution. Many new scientific theories were coming to light when evolution was first brought to the forefront of modern thinking, but other scientific theories were also very popular at the time that it passed. For example, Newtons theories about gravity was a significant theory that was gaining round at the same time as evolution, and they possi bly gave each other the ability to flourish. Few scientists believe that the theory of evolution explains everything about our creation. Scientists are constantly searching to further their knowledge and expand on the theories they hold, and evolution does not include the source of the universe. The general theory of evolution claims that all life is closely related and has one common ancestor consisting of multiple or single cells. Many processes, including random differences between animals of the same sex, are also caused by the natural selection of successful variations, new forms and numerous amounts of species evolving over time. (Van Wyhe, pp. 11-13) Creationists do not have clearly formulated models of the theory of creation science but the conventional view can be found from a July 1980 summary of the Journal of the Institute for Creation: Acts and Facts. Acts and facts according to the article presented theory is the same as the literal interpretation of Genesis. It is understood that the Institute for Creation science is very clear in this area: The only way we can discover the true age of the earth is God going to tell us himself. Because he told us very clearly in the Bible that it is several thousand years and nothing more is to be discussed. This is supposed to close the book for all the basic questions about the chronology of the Earth. To support it they use a variety of dating methods and processes based on their level of error. For example, many of them use periodic processes that scientists do not find to be supportive of their beliefs. Similarly, events cannot be used to assess periodic age of the earth. Many places on earth show the progression of earth int he layers of soil that have been deposited over time and created fossils. Creationists explain this evidence away as being placed by God to test their faith. Another indication is the presence of radioactive isotopes in rocks. Each of them shows that the earth was created some time ago. But of the 48 isotopes have a half-life of from one thousand to one hundred million years, many have to stay here in large quantities. In samples isolated for thousands of years, only three of these isotopes remained minimal. Because both layers of calcium and radioactive decay are well-known science, you can use them to date fossils and rocks accurately and consistently. For example, FA Olsen studied the sediments 40 million years along the Newark Basin in New Jersey and found a correlation between the isotopic dating and the dates given by record rainfall. He found a substantial link between variations of precipitation resulting in a layer of crusts movement. He found this with cycles of 12,000, 25,000, 44,000, 100,000 and 400,000 years. (Von Sydow, pp. 141-156) This variation can explain the discrepancies discovered between fossils that have been carbon dated to different periods within the same or nearby layers. Creationists use the discrepancies as evidence that science is incorrect, but science again prevails to prove its worth. Conclusion Science is not always perfect and is always changing based on new discoveries. Theories that were once believed in the absolute truth, have now been shown to be false, whereas, the theories that were ridiculed in the past, are discovered to be true later. So what does this mean for us as human beings to interpret the scientific findings and adapt them to our beliefs? We can only follow our hearts and minds, although all people will never agree on what they believe. The creationist theory is wholeheartedly believed by many, while believers of evolution see it as nonsense. As a believer of evolution, it is hard to understand why creationists continue to hold their beliefs beyond the science that seems to prove evolution, but each person will choose their own beliefs and what they perceive to be fact. Application of Logic in Everyday Living

Many branches of science can be Involved and applied In our dally life, even the broad study of logic also are included to our everyday living, it is a reasoning of life circulation to improve and explore. Basically, human being is the most powerful creature on earth that controls deferent physical, mental physiological, psychological and intellectual preferences. A proven capability of a person to make his environment change according to what he/she plans, or we can say to Innovate and evolve feasible things to make work, to grow, to process and to develop.Considering that present events, evaluations, and information are connected to which everyday composure or situation to our environment gets affected. Living in a world full of challenges is a broad act of adapting and adjusting to various conditions of how to live, suffer survive and conquer preparation for death, start of a new beginning, hopes of those hopeless, being strong from weak, living and dying In many reasons, sharing life to others, counting blessings you have, and making advantage and achievements, are just examples of how we deal to keep us alive. As individual hanger, the world also gone changes from its form, structure and growth. It is Just a matter of becoming pessimistic or optimistic. There are different levels of understanding how people change or maybe how the world change. Some answer, that history repeats itself, a part of the new generation, acquisition of powerful mankind, making choices for a better living. Well†¦ Being able to ‘predict' how systems and people (which are much the same really) will act in certain conditions and situations is a very useful skill to have.In ancient times image you are finding your way through a landscape and you come to a did no way round (in sight) well from the logical standpoint you look at it like this 1 how deep Is the void 2 how far can I Jump 3 will I make the Jump based on that measurement/experience? If you didn't have logic then y ou would Just jump and hope for the best†¦ Welch Is the mentality an awful lot of people seem to employ when making decisions now†¦ Look at the supreme crisis! Of course having too much Logic is the flip side.Imagine not leaving your house because statistics tell you that % of people get run over, shot, stabbed, attacked, abducted, struck by lightning, killed by flying debris†¦ Etc†¦ , well logic would tell you Don't leave the house It safer in here! So logic Is Like theory and then there is in practice which is usually slightly different. In essence you don't want to be too logical, or too creative, which Is why most people have a proportion of both†¦ Nature intended it that way for a very good reason.ANSWER Logic: thought processes are clarified, the use of logic enables consideration of all available options for opinion and action, and decreases the persuasive power of popular opinion; Because available options have been fairly considered, the use of logi c increases the likelihood that subsequent opinions and actions will adhere most closely to the truth. Adherence to the truth, while sometimes painful, is the human condition more likely to lead to satisfactory outcomes in most situations. Therefore, logic's relevance to everyday life is that its use improves the likelihood of satisfactory outcomes in the day-to-day decisions each person makes. Russian's Logic is the ability of reasoning your choices, to examine the consequence of every available action and then choose the best one. It has been proven that a simple rat has basic logic, Scientists created a machine that would create two types of sounds: a long beep and a short beep. They also gave the rat three small levers to pull, Lever 1 and lever 2 and lever 3. When the scientists played a long sound or short sound, the rat would get fed a large amount of good food if it pulled the correct corresponding lever to the sound played, left lever for long beep, right lever for short bee p, if the rat pulled the middle lever, it would get fed some food, but not as much, no matter what sound was played. If the at pulled the incorrect lever, it would not get fed anything for a while. The rat eventually caught on that if it pulled the correct lever it would get much better food, so it started pulling the correct levers. One day, to test the rats logic abilities, the scientists decided to play many different sounds, long short short long long short, to see what the rat would do. The rat was able to think about his choices, he chose to pull the middle lever, and he took the small amount of food because he knew it was the best choice. The rat would rather not take a chance at missing out on his food. Without logic, everybody would act instantly on their emotions, thus making many many radical choices, without logic there would be more criminals, for example: you catch your girlfriend or boyfriend cheating on you, you have tons of choices you can make at this point A. Some p eople Just end the relationship and walk away B. Some people might try to talk about it C. Omen people might even do something bad like attack somebody Without logic, most people would probably Just attack somebody at this point because they didn't think about which choice was best, obviously either A or B is a deter choice than C, but because you were angry, you didn't use logic, and Just chose. Imagine if everybody chose option C for all of their choices? Life would be a lot worse than it is now.Without logic, life would be chaos, without logic, the rat would starve ANN. Answer Logic, is a deductive reasoning that results when the human brain calculates the most rational and acceptable outcome of any given situation and recognizes that answer as the most constructive, and consequently the most two groups; rational or irrational, instinctual or improve, emotional or logical. Emotional responses tend to be the strongest desire in the moment, when followed outcomes like crimes of pas sion or moments of extreme passion.I tend to think that acting on an emotional paradigm feels better, and tends to be more rewarding but it also tends to precede more danger. Logical responses happen when the individual looks at a situation from a third party and recognizes the moral obligation or larger demographic of opinion that would rationally decide the correct decision. Why logic is so relevant to everyday life is a difficult question. I believe it stems from a natural unman desire to help support a social group and thus keep everyone content.
